Surviving cardiac arrest
In 2007, at the age of 50, the women’s basketball coach at Washington State University, June Daugherty, suffered a cardiac arrest and was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

Helen (Dolly) Louise Pedersen (Smoke) McCormick died in her sleep on March 23, 2010.
She was born in Alderwood May 7, 1929 to Albert and Bessie Pedersen.
The youngest of four children, Helen grew up in Stanwood, graduating from Twin City High School in 1947.
She married Art Smoke in October 1947 and raised four children on their farm in Arlington. Full Story

Ellen “Ellie” Rose Floyd was born in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, Aug. 23, 1992. She came to America in 1994 to live in Stanwood. She was headed for a career as a dental assistant. Ellie enjoyed music and dancing, and she loved her cat and dog. She also liked going for walks. She loved pita chips and hummus, along with Sprite. Full Story

Robert “Bob” L. White, age 92, was born October 26, 1917 on a homestead near Zurich, Montana, and he passed away April 10, 2010.
