Soccer club splits WesCo matches

PHOTO BY JOHN GALBREATH | STANWOOD/CAMANO NEWS Stanwood’s boys’ soccer team (4-3-2, 14 points) remained in fourth place in the WesCo 4A North conference after splitting a pair of matches with Oak Harbor (0-8-0, 0) and Marysville- Pilchuck (6-2-0, 18) last week.

Five different local players scored against the Wildcats in the 6-1 victory. Brandon Schlagel, a senior forward, tallied twice while teammates Julio Agular (freshman), Tad Dillon (senior), Rashid Alansari (senior) and Mickey Brown (sophomore) added one goal each to the local cause.

Against Marysville-Pilchuck, Agular and Alansari (Dillon assist) scored for the Sparts but it wasn’t enough as the Tomahawks won 3-2.
