Once again proving their resiliency, the Lady Sparts used the steadfast battery of pitcher Brittany Jeans and catcher Sam Bingham as well as their hitting to pull out an extra-inning 1-0 softball victory over Oak Harbor last week.

Jeans, relying not only on her own prowess as a topflight pitcher but on her battery mate’s pitch-calling behind the plate, struck out a career-tying 20 enemy batsmen while relinquishing but one hit to the Wildcats.

Then, after battling for nine innings to a 0-0 tie, Bingham belted a double – Stanwood’s only hit of the day - before following that up with a steal of third base. As Jeans slapped a fielder’s choice, Bingham flew down the line to slide under the catcher’s tag for the winning run.
