Relay for Life
Thank you for painting the town purple
Dear Editor:
The American Cancer Society’s Stanwood Camano Relay for Life brought something new to the table this year and Stanwood Camano area businesses dug in with both hands.
This letter is a thank you to all the locals that came out in support of Paint the Town Purple. The week of March 20-28 saw the emergence of the purple storefront, lavender doors and a myriad of purple displays. These displays helped to raise awareness about the Relay for Life in our community and its supporter’s efforts to kick cancer and find the cure!
Businesses were judged by the Relay for Life committee and awarded for their effort and creativity.
First place went to A Portrait by Indy, second to Twin City Foods, third to Charles Hall Orthodontics and fourth to Stanwood-Camano Wellness Center.
A huge thank you to the Conway Boxcar, they had their purple up first!, Snow Goose Bookstore, Rustic Impressions, Stanwood Grill, Gallery by the Bay; Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow; 0LookinGood Barber and Styling, Character Traits, Hometown Pets, Nichols Computer Services, Star- light Deluxe Vintage Emporium, Mad Dawg Paintball, PinchKnitter Yarns, Let’s Frame It/The English Market, Stanwood Co-operative Preschool and the Stanwood Chamber of Commerce.
Painting the town purple tells our community that we celebrate life, remember those we’ve lost to cancer and vow to fight back against this disease that has touched us all.
Again, kudos to all you purple painters, and please give yourselves a big hug (especially if we somehow omitted you here) from the Relay for Life 2010 committee!
This is going to be a great relay! See you May 21.
