Plastic plant pot exchange

Scott Chase with WSU Waste Wise, demonstrates Scott Chase with WSU Waste Wise, demonstrates Stanwood and Camano Island gardeners are invited to recycle or get more plastic plant pots for free at the pot exchange 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17 at Four Springs Lake Reserve, 585 Lewis Lane, Camano Island. (Follow signs from Camano Hill Road.)

Gardeners, organizations and volunteer groups are encouraged to get what they need — what is left over will be recycled.

Pots should be reasonably clean, without any dirt, tags or wire, but you don’t need to wash them, according to organizer Scott Chase.

Also that day, free classes offered by WSU Extension include:

• 10-11 a.m. on composting, teacher Janet Hall

• 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on native plants and noxious weed control, teacher Susan Horton

• 12:30-1:30 p.m. rain barrel construction, teacher Scott Chase

Sponsored by WSU Waste Wise in Island County, no registration is required.
