PHOTO BY JOHN GALBREATH | STANWOOD/CAMANO NEWS David Gerdes had a career two-game series for the Stanwood Spartans (2- 2 in league, 3-2 overall) as they emerged with a pair of baseball wins over Western Conference North leaguemate Everett.

The first, a narrow 4-3 victory over the Seagulls, featured Gerdes’ 2-for-2 effort with two runs-battedin and Garret Thomas’ two RBI as well.

Andrew Bloom relieved teammate Josh Orcutt in the sixth inning and went on to provide the save – his second of the season – for Orcutt (1-1).

Gerdes and Michael McCune belted the ball all over the field to lead their club to an 11-9 win over Everett last Wednesday.

The former slugged a triple and a home run and pushed three runs across the dish while McCune, hammered two doubles that gave the Sparts three more runs toward the team’s 11.

Meanwhile Tyler Greene earned the win – his first of the young campaign – with Connor Martin’s help. Martin arrived in the bottom of the fifth frame to secure Greene’s victory with a fine effort over the final three innings.
