State tournament

Thanks for sending the cheer team, too

Dear Editor:

The high school boys’ basketball team’s success made for a very exciting winter for the students, parents and community.

As the end of the season neared you could feel the air change as the hopes of postseason play came to fruition. The atmosphere at the high school was electric once the boys’ state birth was cemented.

Soon after, however, the anticipation for the SHS cheerleaders of staying in Tacoma for the state tournament was met with the hard fact that there simply was not money available for the trip. Luckily for the girls, Stanwood is a great place to live. In just a few short days, the cheerleaders collected enough money in donations to pay for their entire stay at the state tournament.

We would like to thank the following companies for their support: Vetch Construction LLC, S&H Development Co. Inc., Jimmy’s Pizza & Pasta, Mad Dog Paintball, Linda E. Del Negro Daniels, Amigo Restaurant, Earthworks Northwest, Inc., Sundberg Homes, Inc., Community Resource Foundation, Eastside Salon, G&J Restoration Inc., Rimmer Tire Center of Stanwood, A Life of Luxury LLC Limousine Service, and Kym Kneeland, our chauffer.

With the financial backing of these great companies and people, we were able to have an adventure beyond compare.

Thanks to you all; Stanwood really is a grand place to live.

Jeanne Kelly Stanwood
