Wenberg: County picks up the tab
Since the ceremony to transfer ownership of Wenberg State Park on Lake Goodwin to Snohomish County last July, the state’s promised sanitary sewer system upgrade is still under construction.
Complications that led to four change orders have cost the state $439,000. A fifth change order, estimated at $96,000, exceeded allocated funding. Full Story

Downtown park and ride will remain a stop for route 247

Stanwood’s former mayor leaves legacy
Donnie Hamburg was a freshman when she met the late Bob Larson in the halls of Mount Vernon High School.

A world-renowned flamenco guitarist, Enrique Henao will perform at Merrill Gardens 4:30 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 20. Originally from South America, Henao has recorded platinum albums, appeared on Merv Griffin’s talk show, and has worked with Quincy Jones and house majority leader Steny Hoyer, to get music programs back into public schools. Friday’s 12:30 a.m. explosion at Tesoro’s Anacortes refinery stole the lives of five workers, critically injured two others and sparked flames that raged for the next hour and a half until fire crews put them down.
Daniel Aldridge, 50, of Anacortes; Matthew Bowen, 31, of Arlington; and Darrin Hoines, 43, of Ferndale, were pronounced dead at the scene. Full Story

State sup pleads guilty to drunk driving
Superintendent Randy Dorn pleaded guilty Friday in Orting Municipal Court to one count of drunk driving.
Dorn was stopped by Orting Police early last Sunday morning, March 28, 20 miles from his home in Eatonville.
He was processed and cited for driving under the influence and for speeding, but was not booked into jail. Full Story
