Build on the solid rock

We are living in very interesting times. I might say interesting may not be the word most would use. Fearful might be more to the point. What we need to focus on is the joy that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jesus never changes. He is the same yesterday as He is today and the same as He will be tomorrow. Change can be good, but it isn’t always, as some may be finding out! A solid foundation that never moves, is always what you want to build your house on.

I am reminded of the story in the Bible about the two who built new homes. One built on a sandy soil, and sand is always shifting, moving and the storms came and hit the new beautiful home and it was completely destroyed. The Scripture says, “It fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:27) Fearful words, don’t you think?

However, the man who built on the rock, his house “did not fall” (Matthew 7:25). Now you can build your house on sinking sand - maybe you think you have a great view there, or the property was really affordable, but the consequences are always the same. A great crash. If you want to be secure in your house, you need to build on the rock.

There is only one rock that never changes (think of the volcanoes blowing up lately) and that rock is the rock of Jesus Christ. You see, there is nothing new under the sun. “What has been, will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). We need now, more than ever, to connect with Jesus in a real and personal way, and meditate on Him and His Word. He is the Rock! We need The Rock, not just “a” rock.
