VIRGINIA J. (GINNY) ARNOLD
JULY 3, 1925 - MARCH 9, 2010
Born July 3, 1925 in Polk County, Iowa, to Earl O. Stephens and Georgia E. Peterson Stephens, Virginia J. (Ginny) Arnold went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2010.
Ginny spent her early years in Carlisle, Iowa, before moving with her mother to California in the early 1940s.
She married Ray O. Cates in November 1945, and was widowed in 1953.
She married Gay R. Arnold in December 1955, later divorcing.
She enjoyed a long career managing telecommunications for Burroughs Corp. and later in the banking industry.
Retiring in 1993 Ginny joined her daughters in Washington state.
As a very special mom and grandma, she delighted in being a huge part of her family’s lives, always their biggest supporter. She was a lifelong lover of growing flowers of all types, tending them with a passion, and passing this love of gardening to her girls.
She is survived by daughters Linda (Gary) Snow and Annie (Chris) Maier, grandchildren Michael (Bern) Thill, Siri, Laurel, Selam, Rahel, Ben, Habtamu and Mirhet Maier, and greatgrandchildren Ali and Iain Thill.
A memorial will start at 3 p.m. Saturday April 10 at Cedarhome Baptist Church in Stanwood.
In lieu of flowers, Ginny requested those who would like to make a donation in her name, give to a children’s charity of their choice.
