Health care

We need independent thinkers in Congress

Dear Editor:

Finally, our Congress has acted and produced a piece of legislation that could potentially benefit all of us. I wish that I could say that all of our legislators used their best, and independent judgment when deciding which way to vote on the issue of health care for all Americans.

But after witnessing the refusal of 100 percent of the Republican legislators to vote for health care, I can’t help but think that they are merely voting along party lines, or are once again, simply trying to destroy our president’s credibility, no matter what the cost to all Americans.

It almost appears as if certain talk show hosts are now running the Republican party.

Shouldn’t our representatives in Congress be acting in accordance with their constituents needs and desires and not just reflect the dictates of the party hacks or well-paid talk show hosts?

Congress needs to wake up and realize that all of us are not fooled by their bravado and posturing. We need thinkers and men and women of independent action in Congress, not lackeys and followers!
