Teen boy sent to Denny for burglary, malicious mischief, and minor in possession of alcohol

• A 15-year-old Stanwood boy was arrested March 22, and booked into Denny Youth Center on charges of burglary, theft malicious mischief and minor in possession and consumption of alcohol after gaining entry into a business in the 7200 block of 267th Street NW. Full Story
Return census forms now
Census forms were delivered by the U.S. Postal Service two weeks ago and are due back this week or as soon as possible. While there is no specific deadline, those residents who do not complete and return a 2010 Census form within two weeks of receiving it will receive a replacement form. Full Story
Attorney General’s Office chases Penguin
In the state’s case against Mukilteo-based Penguin Windows, the Office of Attorney General (OAG) “alleged that Penguin’s claims just didn’t fly,” said Assistant Attorney General Jack Zurlini.
OAG filed against Penguin as part of their consumer protection efforts focused on transparent marketing, a press release said. Full Story

In a special session Thursday night, Stanwood City Council heard a second reading of the sign code ordinance, amending language, and passed it unanimously, accepting council members Andy Chappel and Leonard Kelley, who were absent. Full Story
Hi-Q team takes title in dramatic fashion
The Hi-Q team from Stanwood High School (SHS) tossed a monkey off its back after winning the championship match on home turf last week.

Kite surfer tangles with lines
Sunday afternoon, a Kayak area kite surfer got a little more caught up in the sport than he intended.
While taking advantage of gusting winds and enjoying a few gray whales along the shoreline about half a mile from Kayak Point Regional Park, the man tangled his ankle in the lines and was unable to free himself. The surfer shouted for help, and fortunately his calls were heard. Full Story
