Van Pelt runs for county clerk
Debra Van Pelt
Debra Van Pelt, a deputy in the Island County Clerk’s office, has announced her decision to run for the office of County Clerk.
Having spent the past five years immersed in the details and responsibilities of the office, Van Pelt feels that she understands the unique demands of this office.
“I believe anyone considering this important role should know and understand the significance and complexity of the office. In addition to my experience, I believe I have the temperament and dedication necessary to serve the citizens of Island County and perform the duties of the county clerk,” Van Pelt said.
“During the years I have spent in the office, I have striven to be honest, forthright, fair and courteous with those I have come in contact with, from the public to the judiciary. I am excited about my candidacy and one of my goals as county clerk will be to provide as much information and as many services as possible online. By utilizing technology to improve customer service, not to take the place of it, we can offer the most efficient and inexpensive delivery of services to taxpayers. I like to call it innovation with a personal touch.”
