Matzke Fine Art Gallery and Sculpture Park presents the Art Auction for the Artist, to help artists create and flourish, starting 6 p.m. April 17. Featuring original works of glass, sculptures and paintings by more than 50 artists, including Jack Gunter, Betty Frost, Karla Matzke, Debbi Rhodes, Liana Bennett, Kevin Pettelle, Alfred Currier, R. Jed Dorsey and his mom, Ann Cory, are showing 13 paintings at Islanders restaurant at Terry’s Corner on Camano Island. While they both show together regularly at the Seagrass Gallery, this is their first “two man” show together. “Early Spring” continues through May 9 with art by well-known Northwest masters, Ned Mueller, Jack Dorsey, Steven R. Quilts at McCool gallery

Anne Martin McCool Gallery will feature Susan Carlisle’s quilts opening at the First Friday Gallery Walk 6- 9 p.m. April 2. Shape of Water

Visual art and poetry is presented in “Shape of Water” by the Port Townsend Arts Commission at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St. in Port Townsend April 10-June 30. An opening artist reception is planned from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 10 and a poetry reading starts at 7 p.m. April 17.

Calls for art

• Organizers of the 12th annual Kenmore Art Show have announced $3,500 in prize money in the show that runs Aug. 21-29 at Northlake Lutheran Church, 6620 NE 185th St. in Kenmore. Prizes include a $500 purchase award matched by the city of Kenmore. Art will be accepted in four categories: 2-D work (painting, drawing, and other) sculpture, fine crafts and photography. • The Lake Stevens Arts Commission is seeking proposals for a free-standing sculpture in the center of the new roundabout to be built on Lundeen Parkway. The sculpture should reflect a theme of the lake and its natural inhabitants, especially a pair of bald eagles that nest near the lake. Total budget is $10,000. Deadline for submissions is April 26. UnCommon Landscapes

A group show at Lowell Art Works, 5205 S.
