Officer charged with murder
Everett police officer Troy Meade will now face a second-degree murder charge for the line-of-duty fatal shooting of Stanwood resident Niles Meservey on June 10.
Prosecutors added the charge during a hearing on Thursday in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Superior Court Judge Gerald Knight, who is expected to direct the trial, presided over the hearing. Full Story

Born July 3, 1925 in Polk County, Iowa, to Earl O. Stephens and Georgia E. Peterson Stephens, Virginia J. (Ginny) Arnold went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2010.
Ginny spent her early years in Carlisle, Iowa, before moving with her mother to California in the early 1940s.
She married Ray O. Cates in November 1945, and was widowed in 1953. Full Story

Gordon E. “Red” Hammons Sr. passed on March 21, 2010.
Gordon, or “Red,” as he was known to lifelong friends, either for his Irish red hair, or for his quick fiery quips, was a man who knew the value of a hard day’s work and an honest living. He was an independent spirit who never let obstacles detract him from accomplishing his goals. Full Story

Robert Neil Larson, born June 7, 1929, in Mount Vernon, Wash., passed away peacefully March 25, 2010 in Stanwood.
Bob grew up on Fir Island and attended elementary school in Conway. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1947.
Right after graduating from Pacific Lutheran College, Bob married his sweetheart, Donnie Hamburg, in 1951. Full Story
