Spartan boys overrun WesCo South competitors
A trifecta of victories by Spartan Kale Schmidt sparked Stanwood’s boys to a track and field tri-meet win over WesCo South opponents Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale last Thursday. Lady Sparts combine talents to win year’s first track, field meet
Minna Fields and Kaci Jones each posted double victories for the Lady Spartan track and field team in the inaugural triple meet of the season. Stanwood’s girls scored 92 points to far outdistance the point accumulations of Edmonds-Woodway (61 points) and Meadowdale (29). Full Story
Spartan booters come from behind to beat Marysville-Pilchuck
The Spartan boys’ soccer club beat one of the WesCo North’s elite teams, shut out the Wildcats from Whidbey and then succumbed to Cascade’s Bruins late in the week to finish their initial week of action with a very respectable 2-1 record. Full Story
Stanwood girls begin 2010 conference net season 2-0
Utilizing a pair of victories by singles players Megan Lalone and Marina Messerli as well as those of doubles tandem Kallen Shaughnessy and Amme Verbarendse, the Lady Spartan tennis team (2-0) defeated two WesCo North opponents to open the 2010 spring season. Stanwood outhit Everett 5-2 and then edged Marysville-Pilchuck 4-3 two days later. Full Story
Four Stanwood hoopsters play in Skagit Valley Senior Games
A quartet of Stanwood Spartan basketball players marked the end of their prep hoops careers by competing in the annual Skagit Valley Senior Games last weekend.
Zack Johnson, Drew Haugstad, Ryan Jamieson and Austin Cook all played for their respective teams and, by all reports, had a fine time. Full Story
Four Spartans named to 2009- 2010 All-WesCo first teams
Spartan athletes Matt Roe, Kale Schmidt, Zack Johnson and Brad Gee each made the All-Western Conference North Division first teams for the 2009-2010 winter sports season.
Roe, a junior swimmer, was chosen on the basis of his times in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Full Story
