Allie Lee Atkinson
July 24, 1930 – March 20, 2010
Allie Lee Atkinson, born July 24, 1930 in Seattle, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 20, 2010, at her home in Stanwood.
Allie was born in Seattle to Carl and Phyllis Brattain.
She graduated from Forrest Ridge Convent and married Raymond Atkinson on December 1, 1951.
She attended Everett Community College and graduated as a registered nurse. She worked 25 years at Providence Hospital, Pacific Campus in Everett, retiring in 1994.
Allie loved history and was a historian for the American Legion in Stanwood.
Her love of history drew her into reading and learning about all the places where she traveled, including Europe.
She enjoyed snow skiing until her health told her “no more.”
She loved quilting and she was a strong believer in whoever dies with the most fabric, wins.
Allie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Atkinson.
She leaves her children Raymond, Phyllis, Joan, Mary, Jim and Edward, her nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her life-long friend Sally Gjendum.
Allie’s last few years were spent with her extended family at the American Legion. The support and friendship she received gave her great pleasure.
A memorial starts 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the Stanwood American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Scholarship Fund, 26921 88th Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292.
