Revised tax statement sent to Camano property owners
Island County has mailed revised tax statements to Camano Island property owners.
An incorrect tax rate ($0.33 per thousand) for Camano Fire District 1’s EMS levy was inadvertently used instead of the $0.50 per thousand rate approved by voters. Thanks to the watchful eye of the fire chief, the problem was discovered before many property owners paid their taxes. Full Story
Solar power shines on Camano riders

As part of the SR 532 corridor project, Washington State Department of Transportation has installed solar-powered lights
at each of the eight new Camano Island bus stops.
The lights are designed to enhance riders’ safety and visibility during the night and the many hours of darkness that blanket Northwest winters. Full Story
Citizens asked to report illegal dumping of waste
Law enforcement officials with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are seeking assistance in finding people who dump their garbage in state forests.
“We vigorously pursue all leads,” said Larry Raedel, chief law enforcement officer for DNR.
