On Saturday, March 27, 48 different agencies serving the specific needs of seniors will converge on Camano Senior and Community Center. Wondering about tax forms? Have a question about staying fit? Looking to join new programs, meet people in the community or find out how to get around?

The 55+ Community Resource Fair may have the answers you’re looking for.

On Saturday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Camano Senior and Community Center will house representatives from 48 different agencies serving the specific needs of seniors in the Stanwood/Camano Island area.

The event is free to the public.

“A variety of services from government agencies, health care providers, activity directors, legal advisors and local businesses will be on hand to answer questions,” said Karla Jacks, executive director of Camano Senior Services Association. “Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with authorities face-to-face and establish important contacts for future reference.”

The fair is a chance for groups in Stanwood and on Camano Island to make connections and pool resources, said Jacks.

Due to the geographical location of Camano Island, “it’s important for island and Stanwood residents to link up and share information,” said Jacks. “We take care of each other.”

The event is made possible through generous donor support.

The funding also enables Senior Services of Island County to serve a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“This is a way for people to see what is available through the center’s hot lunch program,” said Jacks. “Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, hot lunches are served for $3.50.”

A speaker forum will continue throughout the day featuring guest speaker Barry Meyers, a lawyer specializing in elder law. Meyers is certified by the National Elder Law Foundation.

Meyers will cover valuable information regarding elder law and life care planning as well as gauging issues currently facing elders, the disabled and their families.

For more information about the resource fair, visit www.camanocenter.org or call 387-0222. The center is located at 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.
