Mark Brown, Island County Sheriff, will be the guest speaker for the Camano Island Women’s Republican Club monthly luncheon Tues, March 23, noon. A short business meeting will follow, interested ladies are welcomed. At Lost Lake Community Center, 1469 West Lake Drive.

Commissioners meeting site changed

Camano Island Fire and Rescue’s fire commissioners’ meeting location has changed. It will be held instead, at the Administration Office, 811 N. Sunrise Blvd., 7:30 p.m on Mon, March 22 NOT at the Country Club Fire Station, due to construction. Any questions, call the office, 387-1512.

Applicants urged to apply for positions

The Island County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for position 2 on the Diking District 3 recently, vacated by Joe Ducken. Waterfront inn to help with Haitian relief

In honor of Red Cross Month, Camano Island Waterfront Inn, Spa and Bistro will be hosting a fundraiser for American Red Cross’ Haiti relief efforts March 21– April 3. Open to the general public, the event will feature a silent auction and dinner specials. English High Tea at the Bistro is March 21, 3 to 5 p.m. The silent auction will run March 22-27, and will include goods and services from local businesses. CARE plans citizen involvement

Camano Action for A Rural Environment will have its regular 7 p.m. meeting Thurs, March 18 at Terry’s Corner Windemere office, corner of Sunrise and SR 532/East Camano Drive. Mark calendars for Tulip Trekker’s walks

April 11-13, there will be six different 6.2 mile walk routes, two each day on Camano Island. Shorter routes available. Sunday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., register/start at Cama Beach State Park, two different 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile walk routes within the Cama Beach and Camano Island State Parks, rated moderately easy. Monday, 9:30 a.m., register/start at Cavalero Beach County Park, either a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile group walk on country roads and trails, rated moderately easy. Register/start at Iverson Spit Preserve Parking lot, 1:30 p.m., either a 3.7 or 6.8 mile group walk with views of Livingston Bay/Port Susan, rated moderately easy. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., register/start at Maple Grove Boat Launch, either a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile group walk rated moderate. Stanwood, 1:30 p.m., register/start at the former sport club, 7213 267th NW, either a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile group walk in residential neighborhoods and downtown. Rated moderate. Country club hosts ‘wearing o’ the green’

Camano Country Club is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day Sat, March 27. B.Y.O.B. - 5:30, dinner, 6:30. Menu is corned beef and cabbage, carrots, potatoes, Irish soda bread and dessert, all catered by Debbie Christopher. Music by Larry Laverne. Improve soil

Jon Stevens, of Open Gate Farm on Camano Island, will kick off WSU Island County Beach Watchers Fourth Wednesday Information Series. Stevens will talk on how gardeners can have “wonderful” soil by diversifying plantings and how small farms can create a living community, on March 24, 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N.East Camano Drive.
