Shoplifter tries to return stolen merchandise for cash

Stanwood Police responded to the following calls recently:

• A theft/shoplift, which occurred on March 6 in the 26600 block of 72nd Avenue NW, was reported on March 10. Two shoplifters, a male and female, left on foot and were not located. In a separate report, the female tried to return items for cash that she had previously shoplifted. Investigation continues.

• A debit card that was stolen March 2 was reported used on March 5 in Stanwood. The victim also had a check stolen, altered, and cashed in Stanwood by the same suspect. Investigation continues.

• On March 5, a vehicle traveling in the 10200 block of SR 532 struck another vehicle from behind. The driver was adjusting her stereo.

• Property found in the 7500 block of 267th Street NW was turned in March 5 for disposal, due to unknown ownership.

• A hit and run collision occurred March 6 in the 5400 block of SR 532 when a vehicle drifting over the centerline struck the oncoming vehicle, even though he attempted avoidance by driving on the shoulder. Investigation continues.

• A 43-year-old Stanwood woman is being referred for driving with a suspended license after being stopped March 7 in the 27000 block of 72nd Avenue NW.

• A guardian of a 14-yearold Stanwood boy reported on March 7 that the boy had run away from the 6900 block of 282nd Place NW.

• A two-vehicle collision occurred March 8 in the 27100 block of 92nd Avenue NW when one driver failed to yield right of way.

• Two vehicles collided March 9 in the 7600 block of 272nd Street NW when one driver failed to yield right of way.

• A 16-year-old Stanwood boy in the 7400 block of 272nd Street NW was referred March 10 for minor in possession and possession of marijuana.

• A 37-year-old transient male was picked up March 10 in the 26800 block of 88th Avenue NW after making threats and transported to mental health in Everett.

• Two Stanwood males ages 16 and 21 were contacted March 10 in the 27200 block of 80th Avenue NW regarding a substance abuse complaint. Marijuana and a pipe were located and booked into evidence for destruction.

• A burglary complaint was reported March 10 from the 7000 block of Pioneer Highway. Forced entry was made through the front door and several items, including cash, were taken.

• A parent in the 7400 block of Centerville Court reported March 11 that her 15-year-old son had run away.

• A 27-year-old Stanwood woman reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend March 11 in the 26000 block of 72nd Avenue NW.

• On March 11, a laptop computer and guitar were turned in from the 8200 block of Henning Drive as found property.

• Vehicle license tabs were reported stolen March 11 from the 7400 block of 272nd Street NW.

• An 18-year-old Stanwood man from the 8300 block of Henning Drive is referred March 11 for being in possession of stolen property.
