JORDAN BEAUCHAMP of Camano Island has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for fall semester 2010. Jordan qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester. Founded in 1890, Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The university enrolls approximately 2,700 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs at its campus in Spokane.

Camano Island resident DARLENE HARTLEY is one of four Seattle Pacific University alumni to receive a Medallion Award, as part of SPU’s 2010 homecoming and family weekend. Recipients are leaders within their chosen professions who reflect the values and ideals of Seattle Pacific, and are active in their churches and communities. Darlene spent 33 years as an elementary school teacher and principal, and was president of the SPU Alumni Board for four years. She is currently on the board of directors for the Stanwood Camano School District.

Students from the Stanwood are who have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Washington for autumn Quarter are ELIZABETH REID ABRAHAMSON, RYAN CHRISTOPHER BOYCE, KYLE BOONE BUTLER, DAMARA ANNE HADZARIGA, JACOB GREGORY LENZ, KELVIN GAELAN MANSFIELD, and FRANZ MICHAEL RUIJTERS, seniors; GRANT MARCUS BOURSAW, SCOTT PATRICK COLLINS, BRODY GORDON LUND and KARL ALLEN SPECHT, juniors; BRIANA CHRISTINE BOWERS, NOLAN DAVID HEINTZ and MORGAN CHRISTINE STEWART, sophomores.
