Learn about low impact development
Learn how to use low impact development to reduce storm water run-off and pollution, and to provide healthier soils and aquifers Wed., March 17, 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 East Camano Drive. Zsofia Pastor, certified professional horticulturist and organic landscape designer, will share techniques that can be implemented by homeowners as do-it-yourself projects, using old and new landscaping technologies for thriving native vegetation and increased wildlife. This presentation is part of a public education series hosted the third Wednesday of the month by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of the Island County watershed project. G ardeners host speaker on spring topics
Andrew Picken of Christianson’s Nursery will talk to Camano Garden Club members Thurs, March 18, about spring topics: prepping the garden, planting, fertilizing, mulching, etc., plus how to create a spring flower bouquet. He will also bring bedding plants for purchase (bring cash or checkbook if you plan to shop), to Camano Country Club, where a 12:30 p.m. business meeting will be followed by the 1 p.m. program. Volunteer orientation at center for boats
A volunteer orientation at the Center for Wood Boats is Sat, March 13, 11 a.m., followed by a noon potluck, then the 1 p.m. meeting where volunteers can learn how to help maintain boats and learn about operations. Bingo every Saturday night
Every Saturday night at 6 p.m., there is bingo at American Legion Post 27 on Camano, 608 W. Camano. It is also played the second Sunday of every month, 1 p.m. in the same place.
Pick up litter on roads near state parks
Friends of Camano Island Parks will have a work party Sat, March 13, to pick up litter on Camano roads near the state parks. Meet at the Elger Bay Store at 9:30 a.m. for an hour and a half of litter pick up. Bring gloves and sturdy shoes. Marcello Cicchini will paint with “passion and warm spirit,” as the visiting public watches him paint, and Regina Kastler will be weaving colorful baskets at Brindles Marketplace, 848 N.
