COBRA subsidy extended to those who qualify
Workers who lost their jobs during January and February may qualify for a 65 percent subsidy on their COBRA health insurance premiums.
These newly-eligible individuals, along with those already receiving the subsidy, can now receive it for up to 15 months, according to the Internal Revenue Service. Full Story

E-file: It’s safe, it’s easy and it’s time
IRS e-file, the popular electronic tax return delivery service used by two-thirds of the nation’s taxpayers marks 20 years of safely and securely transmitting nearly 800 million individual federal tax returns.
The Internal Revenue Service debuted e-file nationally in 1990, delivering 4.2 million tax returns. Full Story
$1.3 billion in unclaimed refunds
In Washington state, 37,100 people did not claim their income tax refunds for 2006, and there’s $39,713 waiting to be claimed along with $1.3 billion nationwide
To collect the money, a return for 2006 must be filed with the IRS no later than April 15, 2010.
The IRS estimates that the median unclaimed refund for tax-year 2006 is $604. Full Story
