Pornography
Dear Editor:
I love our library. I use the Internet to order books from other branches. I use the online catalog to see if books are on the shelf or checked out. I even recently learned that you can download books for free! I belong to a book club that reads a different genre each month.
The only thing I don’t like is actually going into the library.
A good friend of mine went into the library a little while ago.
She was standing in line to check out her choices and she heard a funny noise behind her. When she turned to look she got a good view of the pornography that was being viewed by an adult male at the computer directly across from the library counter.
She noticed that every other computer was being used by children or young adults.
Does he not have a computer at home? Does he enjoy being around children while being stimulated in this way? Does he enjoy having others see him viewing pornography?
It seems to me that this is a dangerous situation for the children at the library. My friend felt violated.
Why is this OK with us? Why is it OK that our tax money goes to provide free porn for any adult who wants to access it? And why oh why at our library?
