The state of unemployment
Despite
the addition of 12,400 jobs in Washington, the statewide unemployment rate increased slightly, from 9.2 percent in December to 9.3 percent in January.
Responding to news of the job increase, Governor Christine Gregoire said in a prepared statement last Tuesday, “While today’s news is positive, we aren’t in the clear yet.” Full Story

voices of riders on Community Transit’s (CT) bus no. 247 were heard at a series of public meetings and through written comments.
CT’s board of directors considered more than 100 comments regarding their proposal to eliminate the popular Stanwood to Boeing route. Full Story
Propane pricing all over the board
When
Camano Island resident McDonald Sullivan had his residential tank filled with 176.5 gallons of propane, he was astounded at the price – $863, or $4.89 per gallon.
Upon review of the bill, he said, “I was flabbergasted,” especially when compared to a bill from 2007, when the same company charged $1.86 per gallon. Full Story
