Cash stolen from wallet in garage

Island County Sheriff’s deputies on Camano Island responded to the following recently:

• BA 51-year-old man residing in the 1200 block of Holloway Lane contacted deputies on Feb. 18, regarding a burglary at his home. The man’s brother had been staying in a spare bedroom in the man’s garage. The two men were playing cards in the main house, and when his brother returned to the garage, he discovered $200 cash missing from his wallet, which he had left in the garage. Subsequently, the brother was contacted by his credit card company, reporting suspicious charges, including online purchases to a business in Alaska.

• On Feb. 25, deputies stopped the 29-year-old male driver of an orange 1990 Dodge minivan near the intersection of E. Cross Island Road and N. East Camano Drive after observing he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The man had no driver’s license on his person and verbally identified himself. A check revealed his license had been suspended or revoked. The man was cited in connection with driving with license suspended or revoked, no proof of insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt.

• On March 1, a 19- year-old man living on Solar Way was arrested in connection with domestic violence assault after an argument with his 16-yearold brother.

• Deputies mediated a civil dispute involving a woman living on Gilbertson Road. The dispute involved a dog, its previous owners and $200 worth of vet bills.

• A 61-year-old Maple Grove resident called deputies in the morning of Feb. 28, to report a hit-andrun, non-injury motor vehicle accident the previous night. Deputies discovered a vehicle apparently failed to negotiate a curve and struck a chain-link fence near the intersection of Beach View Lane and Boat Ramp Road.

• Deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Feb. 26. The vehicle was reported in the 200 block of Driftwood Shores Road. Deputies arrived to find an orange 1991 GMC Jimmy, occupied by a 22- year-old female driver and a 24-year-old male passenger. The vehicle was parked past a sign marking the boundaries of a private community with no trespassing allowed. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies discovered substances believed to be marijuana and methamphetamines, as well as two glass pipes. The case is open and pending test results of the suspected substances.
