No-host bar will serve root beer floats in addition to the usual beer and wine fare. Pancake breakfast at Camano grange
South Camano Grange’s monthly pancake breakfast is Sat., Feb. 27, 8 to 11 a.m. All the pancakes you can eat, ham and sausage, scrambled eggs are included in the price. French toast is served for those who prefer it. For information about the Grange or directions, call Pat, 629-3276.
‘Taste of Camano’ this weekend
“A Taste of Camano” is this weekend, Sat, Feb. 27, 6 to 9 p.m. at Camano Senior and Community Center. Tasting includes wine, artisan cheese and shellfish from local waters. Music, an auction and talents of several chefs, will round out the event sponsored by C.A.R.E.(Camano Action for a Rural Environment). Proceeds will benefit the group, which is a non-profit organization founded 13 years ago. Its projects have included protection of the island’s sole source aquifer, promotion of responsible land use, stewardship and preservation of the natural habitat. High school youth meeting at chapel
High school youth around Stanwood can use the shuttle service from Rite Aid to Camano Chapel every first, third and fifth Tuesday of the month to attend Capstone 1,3,5. The shuttle leaves at 7:10 p.m., returning at 9:30 p.m. Meet with friends for table games, gym games, pool, ping pong, live music, and a short message.

Women’s club welcomes guest speaker
Camano Country Club’s Women’s Club will hold their monthly meeting, program and luncheon Tues, March 8, 10 a.m. Guest speaker Jeanie Ovenell will be talking about the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank. County seeks volunteers to serve
Island County needs volunteers to serve on several boards and councils: The Northwest Workforce Development Council needs volunteers from the local K-12 education field. The Island County Affordable Housing Advisory Board (ICAHAB) needs someone to represent the affordable housing construction industry, commercial real estate financing, property management and agencies that serve low income households. The Law & Justice Council needs representatives from law and justice offices of the county and cities, school districts, mental health providers, Department of Corrections and Public Defenders Association and there are two vacancies on the Conservation Futures Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
