THOMAS JOHN RODIN
DEC. 25, 1929 — FEB. 12, 2010
Thomas John Rodin passed away 9 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born to Axel Wilhelm Rodin and Carol Alice Casey Rodin on Christmas day, December 25, 1929 in Barnes County, North Dakota.
Tom was a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years, while living in Woodinville. He held the position of assistant chief for District 36 in King County.
When the family moved to Stanwood in 1962, Tom help found the Freeborn Fire Station, working his way up to become the station chief of District 14.
Tom joined the Army and served in Korea, where he volunteered to operate heavy equipment, instrumental in building runways and roads. Upon returning home he continued in the field of construction, until his retirement.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Fruhling Rodin, his five children Tom, Timothy, Michael, Nancy Larson and Julie Brown, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Tom also leaves three siblings: his brother Robert Rodin and wife Barbara, brother Donald Rodin and wife Ruth, all of Boise, Idaho, and sister Patricia Rodin Norman of Arlington, as well as numerous and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 20 at the Cedarhome Baptist. A private family burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Stanwood.
