First league title in eight years
Feeding off the energy produced by an active senior night crowd, the Stanwood Spartan basketball squad (14-2 in league, 14-6 overall) built a 22-10 first-quarter lead and then cruised to a solid 84-51 victory over visiting Cascade in their regular-season finale Thursday night. Full Story
Conference re-alignment forthcoming
Western Conference athletic directors are in the process of shuffling league alignments in order to accommodate a series of population changes within local high schools. The AD’s have placed the conference’s 19 high schools into three different divisions. Full Story
JV swimmers outscore Snohomish
Stanwood’s junior varsity boys’ swim team scored 266 points in the WesCo North Junior Varsity Championships over the weekend and, by doing so, edged out the Panthers of Snohomish by one point (265) and placed third behind Marysville-Pilchuck and Lake Stevens as a result. Full Story
Ten swimmers to district finals
The Stanwood Spartan boys’ swim team advanced 10 swimmers and two alternates to the Northwest District I finals that took place Saturday night, Feb. 13.
