Crestview takes good care of mom

Dear Editor:

A recent Sunday edition of the Seattle Times carried the headline “Seniors for Sale” and the article that followed did, in my opinion, a real disservice to adult family homecare providers in our state.

The article left the impression that abuse of seniors is prevalent throughout the adult family home system here in Washington.

My mother suffers from dementia and has resided in the Crestview Adult Family Home here on Camano for about two years. She is very well looked after, is part of a loving environment, and remains cheerful every day of her life.

When she was in her home with caregivers 24 hours a day, she was not cheerful, she was not always well looked after, and she was deteriorating at a much faster rate than she is now.

I cannot tell you what a relief it has been for our entire family since we relocated her to Crestview.

I am writing this to publicly recognize Renee Hemmingsen for her wonderful care of my mother and the other ladies that reside at Crestview.

We are so thankful that they are taking care of our mother the way they do!
