CIFR on road

Attend fire commission meetings

Dear Editor:

The Camano fire commissioners are taking their show on the road!

On Monday, January 25, the fire commissioners held their second regular meeting of the month at the Mabana Station to increase public awareness and participation. Nearly 40 interested citizens of the southend attended.

The commissioners are to be commended for taking a significant step toward improved communication with the public, whose taxes support Camano Island Fire and Rescue.

For the rest of the year, the second meeting of every other month will be held at a different community fire station.

The March 22 meeting will be at Country Club Station and on May 24 the meeting will be at Madrona Station.

Local residents should not miss these opportunities to better understand the workings of their fire department.

All fire commission meetings are always open to the public, but these local meetings definitely increase accessibility.

Kudos to the commissioners and the chief for this outreach.
