Vandals target Camano Chapel

Vandals tore through Camano Chapel last Tuesday night, leaving enough damage in their wake that most church programs were canceled Wednesday.

said the crime took place some time after 9:30 p.m.

Island County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and Rice said church leadership didn’t have access to many areas and hadn’t taken inventory of the event yet. He simply described it as “very heavy vandalism.”

Mark Plumberg, a detective involved in Island County’s investigation, said there are no suspects at this time.

Plumberg wasn’t comfortable commenting on specific acts of vandalism, but concurred with Rice that the facilities were heavily damaged.

The incident is still under investigation.

“We just have to work through the process,” Rice said.
