North County Fire/EMS receives clean audit
North County Fire/EMS received a clean financial audit report for 2008.
The audit is part of a regular review of the fire authority’s finances and financial practices by the Washington State Auditor’s Office every two years.
“We’re very pleased with these results,” said Chief Dale Fulfs. “It’s important that our customers know that we are good managers of their tax dollars.”
It has been two years since voters approved merging two fire districts to form the first regional fire authority in Snohomish County. North County Fire/EMS serves more than 15,000 residents across 104 square miles – the largest area of any fire service in Snohomish County.
The Washington State Auditor’s office visited with North County Fire/EMS staff in September.
In its report, it confirmed the integrity and compliance of the fire authority’s accounting and financial reporting activities. The audit states that North County Fire/EMS’ internal controls are sufficient to safeguard public assets.
