Free training for Sound Stewards

Snohomish County residents interested in becoming Sound Stewards to restore estuaries and shorelines in Snohomish County are invited to free workshops presented in February and March by People For Puget Sound.

Class topics include local shoreline history, introduction to ecology, native versus invasive plant identification, weed control and planting techniques.

In return for 16 hours of training, Sound Stewards are asked to commit to 40 volunteer hours over the next year on People For Puget Sound restoration sites.

Participants will meet with other stewards on a monthly basis to perform maintenance and monitoring, including invasive plant removal and native plant installation.

Classes will be held on Feb. 25 and 27 and on March 4 and 6 at the Port of Everett and field locations.
