Students at Utsalady Elementary School had a special visitor Feb. 2. The Seattle Mariner and the Mariners’ community programs manager, Sean Grindley, Moose spoke to the students about being a part of the D.R.E.A.M. Team, explaining the important DREAM Team principals: D- Drug-Free; R- Respect Yourself & Others; E- Education, A- Attitude, M- Motivation. They also left incentives for the students for reaching reading goals.
Valentine Sunday brunch February 14
Members and the public are invited to a Valentine’s Day brunch overlooking the water at the Camano Island Yacht Club between 9 a.m. and noon. The menu includes bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, omelets, hash browns, pancakes, French toast, fresh fruit, sweet rolls, juices, coffee and tea.
Dance to the Mardi Gras Saturday

‘Painting with pastel’ workshop
A painting workshop for artists who would like to explore the palette, texture and richness of soft pastel, is Wednesdays (four weeks), 1 to 3:30 p.m. starting March 10 - 25. There is a cost. Create butterfly-hummingbird garden
Learn how to entice butterflies and hummingbirds into your garden Wed., Feb. 17, 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 East Camano Drive. Bob Barca, Master Gardener and owner of Hummingbird Hill, will identify their basic requirements for life and provide tips for appropriate plants, plus steps needed to create a special garden for these visitors. This presentation is part of a public education series hosted the third Wednesday of the month by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of the Island County watershed project. Valentine’s Day at Brindles Marketplace
