LEWIS JOHN NEELD

Lewis John Neeld passed away January 7, 2010.

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy submarine Service as yeoman first class for six years and saw active duty from aboard the USS Tautog in the Battle of Midway during WWII.

His civilian career was in transportation and operations management with Jewell Food Stores and later with the Kroger Company.

Lewis enjoyed a loving marriage with his wife Joan Cleaver for 42 years until her death in 1994.

Surviving him are their three children and their spouses: David Neeld (Mary), Scott Neeld (Jill), and Sandra Neeld Labovsky (Dale). He also leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed his beloved friends and their grandchildren.

He was active in Camano Country Club and Stanwood/Camano Lions Club and was a member of the Masons.

His lifelong commitment to music and church choirs was evidenced by his strong and clear bass in the Snohomish County Windjammers, a barbershop chorus.

Friends said Lewis was a quiet and steady man with many talents and his company was enjoyed. He will be missed very much.

A celebration of his life will be held March 26, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Camano Country Club. Remembrances may be made to the Stanwood/ Camano Lions Club.
