Board continues to seek applicants
The Island County Board of Commissioners is still seeking applicants to fill or complete several positions on the Conservation Futures Citizens Advisory Board (CAB). The board appoints CAB members for three year terms with no member serving more than two consecutive full terms. Members must be county residents for at least one year prior to appointment. Philosopher to speak on tolerance
Wed, Feb. 10, Michael Rosenthal, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Washington, will speak on the topic of tolerance. The 7 p.m. presentation will be at the Camano Multipurpose Building, 141 East Camano Drive. Sponsored by the Camano Island Democrats: everyone is welcome.
Women’s club welcomes speaker
Camano Country Club’s Women’s Club will hold their monthly meeting, program and luncheon Mon, Feb. 8, 10 a.m. Speaker Helga Costo will be taking the members on an African safari, photos courtesy of Larry Miller. Men are welcome to attend, and lunch will be catered by Debbie Christopher. Women’s bridge follows at 12:30 p.m. by reservation only.
Fire Jets to host librarian Monday
Terry’s Corner Fire Jets welcome speaker Mary Raymond, from Camano Island Library Mon, Feb. 8, 10 a.m. at the fire station. Join Friends of Camano Island Parks members on a guided community walk through Cama Beach State Park, Sat, Feb. 6, 9:50 a.m. Walk from the N.E. section of Cama Beach State Park to the beach area. Meet at Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road junction. Access Dry Lake Road from Elger Bay Road north of Elger Bay Elementary School or Monticello Road, which intersects West Camano Road and Elger Bay Road. Dance during Camano Mardi Gras
There will be a Mardi Gras dance Sat, Feb. 13 at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Rd, Camano Island. Music by the Camano Junction, 7 to 10 p.m., tickets available at the door. Costumes and masks encouraged.
New class added to preschool program
Camano Lutheran Preschool is adding a new class to their fall program. Called “Parents and Twos,” little ones will begin learning socialization skills as well as providing valuable parenting information and support.
