Willow and Jim’s COUNTRY CAFÉ in Silvana opened on a recent Monday when it is typically closed, to raise funds for victims of the Haiti disaster. Owners Willow and Jim Payne, donated 100 percent of their sales totaling $1,125, to Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian humanitarian organization. “It’s a good feeling,” said Willow. Deputy likely saves a life
Deputy Robert Mirabal announced in a December Island County Commissioners’ meeting that he would be the one to lose his job if the sheriff’s budget was cut.
It was cut.
Serendipitously, Mirabal likely saved the life of a 51-year-old woman in the Greenbank area of Whidbey Island the week before he lost his job. Full Story
