Investment returns hit an all-time low

The interest rates on Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) investments had fallen to an unprecedented low: 0.205 percent.

$3 million available in specialty crop grants
About $3 million will come to the Evergreen State from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) for fiscal year 2010, and the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) has announced a call for proposals that will increase the competitiveness and viability of the state’s fruit, vegetable and nursery producers. State library facing budget cuts – again
As state legislators work to fix a projected $2.8 billion budget hole before the 2010 legislative session ends in March, the Washington State Library once again is in the crosshairs.
Gov. Gregoire’s budget proposal would cut $2 million from the state library, resulting in 31 full-time or part-time workers losing their jobs. Full Story

Volunteers are needed for the annual Point In Time homeless count on Thursday, Jan. 28.
The annual count is an important tool in the community’s efforts to assess the number of homeless in Snohomish County as well as to determine ways of ending homelessness. Full Story
