Based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire, the movie “Precious” will be screened at the Lincoln Theater Jan. 30 through Feb. 2. Lee Daniels’s vibrant, honest and resoundingly hopeful film about the human capacity to grow and overcome is set in Harlem in 1987. It is the story of Claireece “Precious” Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), a 16-year-old girl born into a life no one would want.

A Prairie Home Companion is heard by more than four million listeners weekly on more than 600 public radio stations. This show is performed live, in front of an audience, at the show’s home base, the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minn and will be beamed live in high-definition exclusively to some 500 participating movie theaters, including the Lincoln, at 712 S.
