High winds push down trees, put out power
Sunday night and Monday morning’s high winds kept the area’s fire, road, and PUD crews busy.
Levon Yengoyan, assistant chief of operations for Camano Island Fire and Rescue, said his crews started getting calls about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. They responded to downed trees and power lines with the help of road maintenance crews and the PUD.
Camano crews were also monitoring Driftwood Shores, where a combination of high tides and wind threatened to flood the area.
As of Monday morning, Christian Davis, battalion chief for North County Regional Fire Authority, said his crews had responded to a dozen incidents involving fallen trees and power outages, and were still out on calls. Even so, he said it was pretty standard for the area and the weather.
“We’ve had nothing fall into a house, or anything significant,” Davis said.
