Road work on Silvana Terrace
One lane of Silvana Terrace Road, between Firwood Drive and 46th Place NW, will be closed for 24 hours a day for eight days, from 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 when Snohomish County Department of Public Works will repair the subgrade.

Argument over tattoo results in man being shot
An altercation at a home in the 1400 block of Kayak Point Road resulted in a Stanwood man shooting his brother in the leg last Sunday afternoon.
Snohomish County sheriff deputies were called to the home where the brothers live with their parents. Full Story
High winds push down trees, put out power
Sunday night and Monday morning’s high winds kept the area’s fire, road, and PUD crews busy.
Levon Yengoyan, assistant chief of operations for Camano Island Fire and Rescue, said his crews started getting calls about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. They responded to downed trees and power lines with the help of road maintenance crews and the PUD. Full Story
Bartell Drugs in Stanwood avoids the cut
Bartell Drugs in Stanwood will continue filling Medicaid prescriptions, for now.
Fifteen other locations throughout Snohomish and King counties have discontinued the service, effective Feb. 1, due to reductions in compensation from the state.
Pharmacies are paid by private insurers and Medicaid for prescriptions, based on an industry pricing standard. Full Story
Up the river and over the hill, a new hospital is opening in Arlington, but it looks more like a convention center or hotel.
“That was our goal,” said assistant administrators Connie DiGregorio and Heather Logan.
“We wanted the hospital to be warm and inviting,” said DiGregorio, who commutes daily from Camano Island. Full Story
