TOM CARNCROSS
JULY 30, 1953 – DEC. 15, 2009
Tom Carncross died from respiratory failure at Providence Medical Center in Everett, Dec. 15, 2009. His family was by his side. He was 56.
Tom was born to William E. Carncross and Eunice (Ingrid) Amundsen in Princeton, N.J. July 30, 1953.
From an early age Tom was interested in math, science, building, and inventing. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley with majors in applied mathematics and physics.
After graduation, Tom worked in the optical engineering industry for Optical Coating Lab, Inc. (OCLI) in California and Cooper- Vision (Alcon) in Bellevue. While at CooperVision (Alcon), Tom was awarded two patents.
In 1987 Tom married Karen Crossan in Kirkland, where they raised their blended family of five children. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed living on Bainbridge Island. He also enjoyed camping, cooking, Sudoku, chess, and boats.
Tom is survived by Karen, his wife of 22 years, daughters Narnia Wiborg and Allegra Wiborg of Seattle, sons Geo Carncross (Tracy) of Easton, Md., John Carncross (Mahrya) of Seattle, and Gabriel Wiborg (Yuie) of Kenmore, and granddaughter Melissa Rose Carncross of Easton, Md.
He is also survived by sisters Chris (Binckley) McKenzie of Camano Island, Julia Carncross Roscher of Mount Vernon, and brother Eric Carncross of Everett. He leaves first wife Lori Carncross of Texas, and his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, including Angie (Binckley) Davis and Shannon Binckley of Camano Island and Portland.
Services will be held at St. Barnabus Episcopal Church, Bainbridge Island, 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17.
In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the Interium (memory garden) at St. Barnabus Episcopal Church.
