Thanks to all who attended the New Year’s ball

Dear Editor:

The recent New Year’s Eve Black & White Ball at the Camano Island Senior and Community Center was a huge success even though attendance was down from previous years.

Thanks to Camano Junction, a 15-piece big band that volunteered its time and talent to please the dancers and those who just enjoy listening to music of a bygone era, even a polka or two.

The dance committee, composed of eight couples who do the set-up, decorations, and clean up afterwards, is to be commended for their willingness to volunteer, always with a smile. All proceeds from the dance go toward the maintenance and operation of the center.

With funding cuts expected this year from Island County, every little bit helps keep the doors open. It truly is an asset to our community.

It isn’t just a place for “old” people as some might think. All ages participate in an amazing amount of activities.

I urge anyone to come and learn what the center has to offer and to make use of this great facility.

Thanks to the Camano Plaza for those delicious chocolate brownies, but mostly, thanks to all of you who attended the dance.
