Recognize a youth doing great things
Do you know a child or teen who deserves recognition for doing something positive for others in their community?
If so, the Island County Children’s Commission wants to hear about it.
Appointed under the Island County Board of Health, the children’s commission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Island County children and youth through informed advocacy and inclusive collaboration.
The commission wants to identify youth who may not be recognized otherwise for their positive actions and achievements.
Examples include a good Samaritan act, being a positive role model, showing random acts of kindness, helping an elderly neighbor without being asked, standing up for a friend who has made a healthy choice, taking the high road when others are not, picking up litter from public places or any positive contribution to the community.
To nominate such a youth, use the “Caught in the Act” form online under the Island County Board of Health Web site (Children’s Commission) or contact Dan Bond at the Department of Health at 360-678- 7884.
Forms are also available at Stanwood and Camano Island libraries.
Nominations are accepted regularly throughout the year and award recipients are recognized at a public event.
