SHAWN PATRICK MADIGAN

JULY 15, 1967 - DEC. 26, 2009

Shawn Patrick Madigan peacefully ascended to our Lord and Savior, Dec. 26 2009 at age 42, after a long and courageous battle with juvenile diabetes.

Shawn was born July 15, 1967 and grew up in Stanwood. He graduated from Stanwood High School in 1985.

Later in life he moved to Everett and opened his own painting company, Shawn’s Painting. He also worked for many years as a blackjack dealer in casinos.

Shawn will be remembered for the passionate love he had for his family and the amazing ability to find humor in any situation. He treasured every moment with his children and they were his favorite topic of conversation.

Shawn also loved all kinds of sports and would be wearing a Notre Dame hat most of the time. A much loved past time for him was playing basketball at the Everett YMCA, as well as watching his children, nephews and niece play.

He leaves behind his children Brittney, Brooke, Shawn and Jordan whom he loved and adored. Shawn also leaves his mother, Carol Ronken; sisters Linda (Todd), Lisa (Jim) Madigan and Susan Ronken of Stanwood; nephews Michael, Ryan and Tyson Schroyer and niece Morgan Wietzke; aunts Julie Ronken, Carol Waisanen and Lenore (Don) Moa; uncles Alan (Bonnie) Fure and Dave Metcalf; cousins Gary Husby, Ramona (Ed) Snowden, Keith (Judy) Austin and Kim (Leon) Borden; former wife, Twila Madigan and her father Bob Kahlor; along with many good friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Ronken; grandparents Stan and Violet Ronken; grandparents Knute and Violet Mjoen; Grandfather Raymond Husby and his special friend and cousin, Craig Husby.

Special thanks to Alan Restauro and Myrna Brewer, the two angels who cared for Shawn during his difficult times.

A memorial service was held Jan. 2 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where Shawn was baptized and confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Shawn’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor New York, NY 10005. Online donations can be made at www.jdrf.org.
