19-year-old man crushed by vehicle
Stanwood-Camano Fire and Rescue responded last Tuesday to a 2 p.m. call that a 19-year-old Camano Island man had been crushed beneath a vehicle he was working under.
Darin Reid, battalion chief, said the vehicle appeared to have been jacked up properly, but no protection was in place to ensure the vehicle wouldn’t fall. Injuries were concentrated to the man’s chest. Full Story

Boy raises money for free clinic
Trevor Stephens, a 9- year-old Stanwood kid, had a few concerns. Chief among them were the poor state of the local economy and the H1N1 virus. He wondered about the people who couldn’t afford the doctor. He wondered if they needed some help.

Stolen truck pulled from river
A stolen truck, abandoned in the Stillaguamish River near Boe Road on Sunday, was pulled from the water by North County Regional Fire Authority.
Christian Davis, battalion chief, said rescue teams were dispatched after receiving a call that the truck was mostly submerged in the river. They checked the interior and found it unoccupied. Full Story
