100 YEARS AGO (1909)
Ralph M. Brown was the newest barber in Stanwood. Soon after their marriage in Hungary, Theresa and Anton Kappel arrived at Lake Mc- Murray to make their home. Dec. 29, Ramon Lopez was born in Mexico, later came to Stanwood where he was caretaker of the cemeteries in the Stanwood area.

CIBA president, directors sworn in
Barry Van Sickle was sworn in as the first ever Camano Island Builders Association (CIBA) president at the Dec. 17 general membership dinner meeting held at Gerry Andal’s Restaurant in Stanwood.
CIBA is a newly formed chapter of the Skagit/Island Counties Builders Association (SICBA).
Van Sickle owns and operates Van Sickle Construction on Camano Island. Full Story
