Driftwood Shores prowler
Island County Sheriff’s
deputies on Camano Island
responded to the following
recently:
• On Dec. 18, a 59-yearold woman reported the door to a vacant home in the 200 block of Driftwood Shores was ajar. Deputies also discovered a broken window lock and a safe that had been pried open. It was unclear whether anything was missing.
• In a related incident, a vacation home, also in the 200 block of Driftwood Shores, was reported broken into on Dec. 20. Nothing of value was taken, but a few water bottles, two wicker baskets and an alarm clock were missing. It appeared the bed upstairs had been slept in.
• On Dec. 18, a 64-yearold man complained of a prowler on his premises.
• Deputies stopped the 28-year-old male driver of a black 2005 Nissan pickup for not wearing a seat belt. Evidence found during the traffic stop, on East Camano Hill Road, led to the man’s subsequent citation in connection with possession of marijuana, less than 40 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Deputies stopped a black 2000 Chevrolet pickup when the driver, a 20-year-old woman, failed to signal a turn at the intersection of SR 532 and N. East Camano Drive. Over the course of the traffic stop, the woman was cited in connection with driving under the influence and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Her passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was cited in connection with minor in possession and having an open container in the vehicle.
• On Dec. 20, the 30- year-old male owner of a white 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe interrupted the attempted theft of his truck’s oversized tires.
• An 18-year-old man in the 900 block of Gary Lane was cited, on Dec. 19, in connection with possession of marijuana, less than 40 grams, possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Deputies stopped a green 1997 Plymouth Breeze at the intersection of SR 532 and Smith Road on Dec. 20. During the ensuing traffic stop, the 18-year-old male driver was booked in the Island County Sheriff’s Office Jail in connection with driving under the influence, minor in possession and possession of a dangerous weapon. He was also cited in connection with obstructed license plates and no proof of insurance.
